Quilters Basket

Quilter's Basket - (Positive-Negative) Saw Tooth Star!

*** updated 12/27/2017***

This "challenge" includes two blocks.  (For Example:  Tan background with red star and red background with tan star.)  This will make the quilt more cohesive.

Fabric:
Fabric A:  Neutral plain or pattern fabric:
1 - 6 1/2" square
2 - 9" squares
4 - 3 1/2 " squares

Fabric B:  Toned down fabric (no bright fabrics)
1 - 6 1/2 " square
2 - 9" squares
4 - 3 1/2" squares

8 Half Square Triangles:
1.  Put one 9" (Fabric A) on top of one 9" (Fabric B), right sides together.  Draw 2 diagonal lines connecting opposite corners.  Fold block in half and mark center of each side.  Measure down from the top of block 4 1/2" and draw line from side to side.  Turn fabric and measure 4 1/2" from top and draw line from side to side.

2.  Sew 1/4" on each side of both diagonal lines.
3.  Cut between diagonal lines.  Cut along other lines.  This should make 8 HST.
4.  Square to 3 1/2".  Press open.  Repeat with other 9" squares and set aside for block 2.

Assembly:  See  illustration above for placement.
